In the air!

My plan was to get this first leg of my travel posted while flying over the Pacific, but that didn’t happen!  I was able to connect to the WiFi on the flight from RDU to Dallas, but when I got in the air leaving Dallas, it wouldn’t even load the login page.  My computer and phone could see their network, but nothing worked and the flight attendant didn’t know what was wrong. So, I’m writing this in Word and will sort the pictures and post it to the blog when I land.

I was too wired to sleep much on Friday night.  I’m sure I looked at the clock every half hour.  We got out the door just after 5:00am.  The Subaru is in the shop because of a chewed gas line (don’t ask!), and the HHR’s battery was dead, so fortunately the old Ford Explorer was still sitting there!

It was too early to eat anything before I left, so I went into the Admiral's Club for American (with my First Class ticket!) and got some yogurt and juice.  Then, going to the gate, it was nice to be in the first group of boarders!

The First Class seats on the short flight were a little wider than economy, but still weren’t anything special.  They did serve breakfast, so I got some oatmeal and more juice.

I only had about an hour layover in Dallas so didn’t have time to check out the Admirals Club there.  I took the Skyline tram to the American international terminal, which was really fast.

My business class seat is really nice.  There are buttons and compartments everywhere and it will take a while to figure them all out!  There’s a package with a pillow and quilt, a pair of slippers and a toiletry kit.  There’s a set of noise-cancelling headphones in a case.  The touch-screen has movies and a map to watch the flight.  The headphones are amazing.  They cut out all airplane noise and then it’s totally silent!

I got a small glass of champagne, hoping it would help me sleep, but it didn’t do much for me!  Parts of the meal were good.  The salad was great and there was a small cheese plate.  The salmon was dry and the veggies overcooked, so I didn’t eat much of that.  There was a nice small salted caramel tart for dessert.

The seat has all sorts of positions.  I laid it flat and got pretty comfortable, but still couldn’t sleep much.
